Nuclear valve testing process

Babcock Valves has developed a wide range of safety related valves for nuclear purposes, and provides full aftermarket support to its  customers. Our valves are manufactured exclusively at our facilities in the Basque County, one of the most developed industrial areas of Europe.

Nuclear certified valves are always served after non destructive testing, including radiography, ultrasonic, hydraulic and seismic testing, among others, and are served with environmental qualification certifications, ensuring strict adherence to applicable nuclear codes and standards, and aftermarket assistance, supply and support.

We know you can take no chances with safety, so we don´t take risks with quality or design. Our manufacturing processes and materials meet the highest standards of industry and our designs are highly conservative, using only models widely tested on other industries, that has shown very high flow efficiency, and an extraordinary resistance in our stress analysis, before being adapted to nuclear standards.

STANDARDS

Our valves are manufactured according to ASME section III and ANSI B16.34, including standards for:

  • Minimum wall thickness
  • Body and bonnet according to ASME and ASTM standards.
  • Non destructive examinations.
  • Hidrostatic shell and hydrostatic-pneumatic seat tightness testing.
