Tilting disc check valve

Tilting disc check valves attain their seal with no chattering

TILTING DISC CHECK VALVES

In tilting disc check valves, the closure element is a pivoted disc with the pivot axis closer to the center of the flow steam, if compared with the swing check models. The flow swing open the disc, that is seated, on closed position, against a mating conical surface. Babcock Valves’ tilting disc check valves attain their seal with no chattering.

The balanced weight of the tilting disc upon its spindle and its streamlined shape make the valve close very quickly with the minimum loss of pressure.

Seal seatings are tapered machined to minimize impact stressing during closing, and to improve the seal between the seat and the disc when the valve is closed. A stop at the fully open position prevents any chattering by the disc.

MATERIALS

Our tilting disc check valves are forged of cast carbon, alloy and stainless steel, bolted joint within the cap and the body, renewable or welded seats, tilting disc seal. Other materials are available upon request.

PRESSURE SEAL COVER

Tilting disc check valves are available assembled with bolted bonnet or with pressure seal bonnet,  that allows high pressure service. The main feature about the pressure seal bonnet is that the body-bonnet joints seals improves as the internal pressure in the valve increases, compared to other constructions where the increase in internal pressure tends to create leaks in the body-bonnet joint.

Internal pressure forces the bonnet upwards against the gasket, creating forces in the contact areas between the gasket and the bonnet. As pressure increases, leaks probability decreases, because of the tightening of the contact surface between the gasket and the body. The area where the body is in contact with the joint is covered by stainless steel, improving surface’s quality and avoiding corrosion issues.
