Y- LIFT CHECK VALVE

Babcock Valves’ Y-lift (flite-flow) pressure seal check valves are used to prevent reverse fluids in lines with high pressure and/or temperature.

For instance, in boiler aplications, this valve is used as feed water check valve, preventing reverse water flow through the boiler during normal operation or during boiler shutdown.

DESIGN FEATURES

  1. Low pressure drop, approximately 70% less than vertical t-body check valves (tiliting disc or swing check).
  2. Low piping cost. In its simplest form, piping cost is contained in the relationship between size, pressure drop and velocity.
  3. In sizing piping lines the designers would tend to go to the next larger pipe size when velocities get a little higher than what was considered acceptable.
  4. This would imply an increased piping cost. Hence the economic necessity for minimum pipe sizing, valves of lower pressure drop, and trend toward higher velocities. Y-body check valves answer this need.
  5. Excellent resistance to thermal changes.
  6. Quick and easy repair in the line.

PRESSURE SEAL BONNET

Y-Lift check valves are available assembled with bolted bonnet or with pressure seal bonnet,  that allows high pressure service. The main feature about the pressure seal bonnet is that the body-bonnet joints seals improves as the internal pressure in the valve increases, compared to other constructions where the increase in internal pressure tends to create leaks in the body-bonnet joint.

Internal pressure forces the bonnet upwards against the gasket, creating forces in the contact areas between the gasket and the bonnet. As pressure increases, leaks probability decreases, because of the tightening of the contact surface between the gasket and the body. The area where the body is in contact with the joint is covered by stainless steel, improving surface’s quality and avoiding corrosion issues.
